A Swiss born artist, Monika Steiner has been local to Northern California for over a decade, and received her BFA from Sonoma State University. Steiner is an accomplished oil painter and bronze sculptor, with an abstract voice in both mediums. From the dramatic to the subdued, her gestural mark making and expansive color fields find balance between rest and tension. Emotions and poignant personal events are the driving forces of inspiration, giving movement, life and depth to the work.
Steiner’s artistic career gained international acclaim with a show at the Museum of Switzerland in 2009. She is collected in private and public corporations internationally, from Morgan Stanley San Francisco to Boenigen Switzerland.
