Joe Draegert was born on March 28, 1945 in Chariton, Iowa. Draegert received his BFA of Fine Arts from Kansas City Art Institute, and his MFA from UC Davis. A recipient of numerous awards, including a full fellowship to Yale, and the Rome Prize in Painting at the American Academy in Rome. Joe Draegert has work in the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, the Oakland Museum in Oakland, CA and the Crocker Museum in Sacramento.
Draegert is a contemporary California painter best known for his bold unique style of large still life paintings and landscapes of California and Italy.
