Known for her simple, large architectural forms and elegant use of color juxtaposition, Jeanne utilizes multiple layers of dry pastel to create memorable images of barns, sheds and buildings that resonate with a sense of time and place. Architectural purpose is achieved with meticulous attention to light and shadow, presentation of perspective and orientation to the horizon, and highly edited compositions. As pure color pigment the vehicle and rendered with the utmost technical skill, Jeanne’s pastels display a quiet strength in their solidarity and stature. The result is a beautiful and minimal thought provoking body of work. Born in Kassel, Germany, Mullen’s primary home is in the San Francisco Bay Area.
